MYKVR AND THE KVR PRODUCT DATABASE

Started in the early 2000s, The KVR Product Database has grown into the ‘go to’ resource among software-based musicians, producers and developers.

The KVR Product Database contains more than 20,000 audio software products with products created by over 4300 software developers. KVR is the center of the music technology universe and the definitive collection of audio software on the web.

All KVR Members enjoy a service called MyKVR, a unique page for each of KVR’s 500,000 plus members which facilitates the creation and management of custom groups of products in the KVR Database, MyKVR allows for members to tailor their experience at KVR Audio, customizing their news feeds, flagging brands and products alerting them to relevant news and deals, filtering relevant forum posts and organizing plugins. There are already over 30 000 users actively using the MyKVR features.

The KVR Studio Manager bridges the gap between a user’s computer, the KVR Product Database and MyKVR features, unifying these powerful features.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What plugin formats are supported?

Currently we support VST3 on Windows and both VSt3 and AU on MacOS with AAX and CLAP support planned for the near future. This only applies to the scanning and updating process however. When creating new product entries, you can freely select any major plugin format you currently support just as you do from your KVR Developer acount.

Who can manage my brands products?

Only registered admins for your KVR Developer account are able to update plugin information. For developers with a dededicated support team, we would recommend they be given access to update products.

What happens if I have beta versions or unreleased plugins?

If you scan an unreleased product and it does not yet have an entry in the KVR Database, Studio Manager simply states it is not found. For unreleased updates already linked to the database, Studio Manager will only update the plugin information if you explicitly select the plugin and choose to update it’s entry. We recommend hiding these plugins and/or using the ‘exclude from sync’ just in case.

My plugin version numbers are wrong or unsupported?

We list only what the plugin reports. We have seen irregularities in cases where wrappers are used and where non-conformitive versioning standards are in place. In some cases, if there are issues we are unable to resolve, the plugin will be set to unsupported to avoid confusion for the user. If you have an issue, feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to work with you to rectify the issue.

We create soundware, sample libraries and other products. Are those supported?

Not within the plugin list, however, we encourage you to maintain and update these products too. Users can track any product, including soundware, hardware etc. within manually created custom groups. If you have instruments or soundware associated with supported plugins (eg: Kontakt), they will be visible to users of said plugin via the plugin’s product page.

My plugin is still not found, even though it has a product page?

The KVR API will try to automatically match plugins to their respective database entries. If no match is made, you can do so manually from the ‘KVR Studio Manager’ tab on your Developer Dashboard.
